About 🌟 Brihat Samhita — Varahamihira's Vastu Principles | Atmaikya Vastu

The Brihat Samhita (बृहत्संहिता) is an encyclopaedic Sanskrit text written by the renowned astronomer and mathematician Varahamihira in the 6th century AD. Unlike Manasara and Mayamata which focus exclusively on architecture, Brihat Samhita covers an extraordinary range of subjects — astronomy, astrology, natural phenomena, omens, gemstones, agriculture, and Vastu Shastra. It is one of the Brihat Trayi — the three great classical texts of Indian astronomy alongside Brihat Jataka and Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra.

📖 Classical Principle

The house should be entered at an auspicious hour, after worship of the deities of the eight directions. The owner should sleep with head towards the South — facing North brings illness; facing East brings wisdom and long life.

— — Paraphrased from Brihat Samhita, Varahamihira (6th century AD)
